East European Comic Con 2015 – Take me back to Paradise City

Friday afternoon couldn’t have come soon enough and on  May 8th, 2015, together with the @FiLM crew, we were waiting for the EECC press conference to begin. You’ve read by now, Andrei’s and Miriam’s take on the event, you’ve been there and for all thoughts and purpose this is a personal take on the event, the actors, the cosplayers and the atmosphere at the comic-con.

The first day was a busy day, at the press conference Manu Bennett, Osric Chau and Robert Kneeper answered our questions and I invite you to take a look at the clip:  click here

For those of you curious about the panels, I’m happy to share with you the clips (compliments of @FiLM):

Manu Bennett panel: part 1 and part 2

Robert Kneeper panel: part 1 and part 2

John Noble panel: part 1 and part 2

EECC takes you away from the real world for three days and let’s you have fun among your fellow geeks. Gaming, cosplay, drawing, taking photos of cosplayers and artists, meeting actors and having the chance to ask them questions, get their autographs and photos. It’s not like you have the opportunity to meet them daily and hang around with them in a friendly environment.

This year, EECC had booked a lot of actors making many fandoms happy. We’ve had Manu Bennett (Arrow, Spartacus and The Hobbit), Robert Kneeper (Prison Break, Mockingjay), John Noble (Fringe, Sleepy Hollow), Osric Chau (Supernatural), Kristian Nair (Game of Thrones) and Dan Starkey (Doctor Who). The Iron Throne and the TARDIS where brought and many wonderful photos were taken.

The Artist Alley featured many of our favorite graphic artist among them Victor Drujiniu, the legendary Puiu Manu, the HAC team. We were treated with many surprises – the release of the new comic strip “Abatia”.

We’ve made new friends and meet dear ones. This is the true spirit of EECC. Having fun with your mates, indulging on your hobbies without being chastised or ridiculed. It takes guts to go out in public and wear a costume, it takes time, effort, money and attitude to show yourself in character especially in a country not accustomed with this type of events. This year, we’ve saw many new cosplayers, some really great costumes, some artists at the beginning but who worked hard for their outfits.

I’m happy to tell you that the East European Comic Con continues and next year the event will take place between May 13 – 15, 2016 at Romexpo. We can’t wait to see what surprises Mircea Muresan and his team will put together.

As you might know by now, I’m also part of the @FiLM team and I’m happy to share with you this little treat, something deliciously wicked is coming from my crew. Stick around!
